We develop new approaches for the integration of data into Decision Support Systems for Operations Management. Our focus is particularly on applications in the areas of production, logistics and service operations management. Examples of applications include predictive maintenance, data-driven sales planning and service innovation in the area of 3D printing ecosystems.
Our research deals with questions of future energy systems, urban planning and new mobility systems. In particular, we use analytics methods to improve the coordination and management of infrastructures and services in these areas.
We analyze data to improve retail activity and customer experience. Apart from forecasting demand and sales and other classic topics, we also forecast future fashion trends based on image analysis. We also look at the potential of intelligent retail environments based on the Internet of Things.
Our quantitative research deals with the interface of operations management, microeconomics and business analytics. We are particularly interested in the analysis of large amounts of empirical data (sensor data and transaction data, web scraping) and combine them with state-of-the-art optimization approaches to create and simplify data-based decision support systems.
