Aid granted again: Benedikt Schulte receives doctorate scholarship

29.11.2012

Doctoral candidate awarded by Klaus Murmann Scholarship Foundation

Benedikt Schulte, doctoral candidate at our chair, was awarded a scholarship by the Klaus Murmann Foundation in November 2012. Thereby, Mr Schulte receives a research scholarship and an extensive aid package. We are delighted that Benedikt Schulte was selected from a large number of applicants for the prestigious scholarship program. In addition to oustanding academic performance, the foundation evaluates the social commitment and responsibility as well as social skills and communicative competence of it scholars.

Benedikt Schulte studied Mathematics, with concentration on Probability Theory, at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in Bonn. During his studies, he supported diverse tutorials and completed several internships at well-known companies in various industries. Thereafter, he was employed as a consultant at one of the leading global consulting agencies, where he gained valuable experience in Supply & Operations Management.

In his doctoral thesis, Mr Schulte investigates segmentation approaches to illustrate service demands in Supply Chain Management. Such segmentation approaches are becoming increasingly important in academia as well as in business practice. Within the scope of his thesis, Mr Schulte develops analytical models to integrate optimizations in the supply chain and demand segments, and analyzes the optimal structure of supply chain and customer segmentation.

The scholarship grant emphasizes both the high academic standards of Mr Schulte’s research as well as his expert knowledge and personal aptitude. Together with Philipp Ecken, who also received a scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, two of the four doctoral candidates at our chair are being sponsored by doctoral scholarships of the German scholarship organisation.
