Project description

DiReKT addresses the growing challenges of digital transformation, which are placing increasing pressure on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular. Supply chain issues, skills shortages, and the adoption of new digital technologies, in particular, place high demands on SMEs, which often have only limited capacity to independently establish the flexible and resilient structures required to meet these challenges.

The project’s goal is therefore to bridge the gap between theoretical insights and practical applications by (further) developing actionable use cases with selected companies, in order to support these companies in further developing their existing digital products or services. This will be achieved through the targeted use of AI systems that, in particular, make the critical parts of value chains more resilient by taking over redundant and critical tasks without destabilizing existing work structures.

The focus is on the practice-oriented further development of innovative and economically viable high-end solutions that sustainably improve the resilience of value chains while simultaneously strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs, thereby creating a forward-looking model with best-practice approaches for the resilience and stability of the single market.

The Forum Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation is an initiative of the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and the University of Würzburg.

Through the KIdT Forum, Bavarian SMEs gain valuable insights into various areas of AI and digital transformation by engaging with academic experts from the University of Würzburg.
